An hour ago Opera team released Opera 28 based on Chromium/Blink 41. We immediately added this browser to Browserling on all OS platforms. Everyone including free and paid users can cross-browser test in Opera 28.

As this release is based on Chromium 40, which discontinued Netscape Plugin Application Programming Interface (NPAPI) plugins like Adobe Flash Player, Opera also no longer supports NPAPI plugins.

Opera 28 is the first new stable version on Linux since 12.16 (which was released on July 4, 2013).

The following new features were added to Opera 28:

  • Sync bookmarks with phones and tablets

Starting with this version, bookmarks can be synchronized between Opera on the desktop, Opera Mobile on Android and Opera Mini on Android and iOS.

  • Improved bookmark manager

The bookmark manager has been improved. It now includes batch operations and a tighter sidebar.

  • Bookmarks suggestions in address bar

Bookmark suggestions now appear when typing in the combined search and address bar.

  • Increased H.264 support for Mac

Opera now supports H.264 high-quality video on Mac OS X 10.10 (Yosemite).

  • Increased vibrancy for Mac menus

More menus and drop-downs support vibrancy on Mac.

Improvements and major changes since Opera 27:

  • Stability enhancements.
  • Enhanced support for Chromium extensions.
  • Enhanced support for Pepper Flash Player (PPAPI).
